Lost Sizzles where Heroes Fizzles

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

NOW THAT’S how a season should end !!!! Granted through out the season, Lost sure can drag sometimes and makes you wonder “What the HECK are they doing?” But last night’s season finale REALLLLLLLYYY paid off.

Don’t want to spoil anything but if you saw last night then you know, that eventually they DO get rescued. And that they ARE on an actual island and not hell or purgatory, some fantasy sequence or a simulation in someones head.

Observations:

  • Charley really “maned up”
  • Mikhail is one resilient sonovagun isn’t he?
  • The return of Hurley’s van was classic. (I think I literary cheered.)
  • I really Like Locke as a character but, but I would put a piece of lead in his balding dome by now.

Any theories on who’s in the casket?

Anticlimatic Heroes

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

Fair warning: This post does have spoilers. scroll down to continue:

Was I the only one who was a little disappointed buy last night season finale of Heroes? Granted, they a do a better job of paying off the mysteries and tell you whats going on than say Lost, but what I wanted to see was a REAL battle between Peter and Sylar. But noooooo. For the 3rd time in a row Pete gets his glutinous maximus handed to him like he ordered it for breakfast. They are both proficient in TK, but Peter can fly, hear thoughts, turn invisible, and heal from just about ANY wound. He ought to be able to take him. I know it was Hiro’s destiny to take out Sylar but does he have to go out like a punk? And what kind of solution was that for the bomb? Why did both Peter AND Nathan have to fly away and explode. HELLO ?????? They both can fly. Why does Nate have to sacrifice himself? And Lastly. Sylar is NOT dead ??? What is keep him from just playing dead and then blow up anyway?

Its still a great show and I will watch next season, but they are gonna have to think this stuff through a little more.

I won’t even talk about the 30 minute “Samari for Dummies” course Hiro got from his dad last week.

The Inevitable Downfall of DRM in Movies

Monday, May 7th, 2007

If you had been paying attention, you know that another crack to AACS was published lat week. The story got “Dugg” and
as expected Digg.com received and complied with a take down notice. What was amazing was the More stories containing the cracked key where submitted to dug Digg. Hundreds. So Digg decided that it would no longer take down any articles or comments containing the cracked key. Do a google search on the subject and you will see LOTS of stories, but Beta News, adds a interesting comment:

BetaNews | AACS LA: ‘A Line is Crossed’
All this despite the fact, as Ayers confirmed, that the key in question was indeed revoked by the AACS LA. As newer HD DVD discs are distributed, revocation keys extracted from those discs by player software will cause software that uses the “09 F9″ media key not to work.

For users of that software, having paid for a device that no longer functions because it was designed not to function, may be a more important issue than whether Digg stepped on the inviolable rights of individuals to post a popular sequence of hexadecimal code in their messages.

This is the central point as to why DRM, as a business method is BAD BAD BAD. Customers who have PAID for a product, and use it as prescribed by the terms and the law, will now be penalized. And this will keep happening, as more cracks will be published until no application, or player will work anymore. Then how will they sell movies? They can’t. The old model does not work in the new world. You can’t have any reasonably protected information when the attacker and the intended recipient are the same person. That’s security 101.

The movie industry, will have to learn what the music industry is starting to realize. “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.” The industry will have to develop business models that not only expect piracy but encourage it.

The whole world is able and willing to distribute their products. Nobody wants to have to go to the store to by movies anyway. Nor should they have to. After all they are just bits on plastic. That’s why I got hi speed internet. So I can download really big files. Not so I get my email 2 seconds faster. And if you give me a point or two on each sale(or credit towards a free download), I’ll help you sell it. I’ll put up a torrent, or what ever P2P protocol is good for you.

Let’s cooperate, lets collaborate. Than we can ALL win !!!

What is Happening here ?

Monday, May 7th, 2007

This site has been fallow for a few weeks. I have utterly neglected it. Accept to respond to a few comments, I have done NOTHING. I’m gonna try to get back into the saddle again.

  • The Design
I SUCK as a designer. Thanks God I can code. I’m goning to start from scratch, with the default Kubrick (which is what I am displaying now) and make come gradual changes that make sense.
  • Plugins
I’m also gonna start reworking ALL of my custom plugins and widgets. There are some things about them that have ALWAYS bugged me and I will take this time to rework them.
  • Content
This part is the hardest for me, because I’m not a writer. But I need to find/ develop, content on a more consistent basis. And I mean more than just spewing links at you, (while I’ll “prolly” end up doing a lot of that) But one in a while I want ot have something to actually say.

This is a tall order. Between my day job and family, getting a few minutes to work on Blackhacker, will be difficult, but I’m not ready to hang up my type writer yet.

So here we are again. Yet ANOTHER I’m not don bloggin post:-)
